About The Site
I’ve been teaching since 2007, and started making free Youtube bass lesson videos in 2011. I love hearing from people that my videos help them move past blocks in their playing, or show them a new possibility they hadn’t yet imagined. I keep putting out bass videos for free because I remember that when I was first learning I didn’t have money to spend on a lot of books, courses, or lessons.
Thanks to the generosity of people buying my books and supporting me on Patreon, I’m able to keep putting out these free videos and also support myself in living indoors with food to eat. Click here if you want to learn more about how to support what I do!
I didn’t start playing bass until I was thirteen. I don’t know what inspired me to start then, but I did, and I’m glad I did! Playing music is a calling for me, and I only do it because I can’t stand not to!
I learned to play bass by spending a lot of time with the instrument (out of excitement, not out of obligation), and exercising a lot of curiosity about what was possible for me. I believe that the way I spend my time away from the instrument is just as important as the time I spend playing.
I’m proud to be a TC Electronic and Hipshot endorsed artist. My favorite bass is my Peavey Cirrus 4-string with a Hipshot hardware and D-tuner. I’ve been using a TC Electronic RH450 head with RS210 cab while touring and I’m a big fan!
I’m currently living in Petaluma, CA, and teaching students around the North Bay Area, including Healdsburg, Windsor, Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Cotati, Petaluma, and others, as well as on Skype for students around the world.
I also have a raw food website, where I share information about the benefits of the raw food and vegan diets, as well as various philosophical tirades.
I’m also on tour regularly with progressive Celtic rock band Tempest. (click here to see my tour schedule – I’d love to meet you at a show!)
